Located just 55 miles northwest of Nairobi, this fresh water lake is
a birdwatcher’s paradise. Hiking, biking, rock climbing and boating
are popular options. This is a great place to spend a few days since
it is centrally located allowing you to visit some very interesting places
such as Hells Gate National Park, Crescent Island, the Naivasha flower
farms and Lake Nakuru National Park. Just a bit further is Lake Bogoria
National Park which we highly recommend.
Best known for its thousands of flamingoes, Lake Nakuru is part of a
larger national park where game is abundant. Home to an important Rhino
sanctuary, you can see white and black rhino lounging lakeside. Zebra,
buffalo and the endangered Rothschild giraffe are here as well as several
large prides of lion and a fair number of leopard. There are really
no good choices of lodging here but Lake Naivasha is only a 2 hour drive
away and has many wonderful options.
