Situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley, the small but beautiful Lake Manyara National Park is easily accessed from Arusha or Tarangire National Park on the way to Ngorongoro Crater. Most of the resident game is found close to the park entrance which makes it ideal for an afternoon safari.
Lake Manyara National Park has a wealth of habitats. It is home to soaring ground-water forests, Umbrella Thorn Tree woodlands and a tranquil soda lake. You can also visit Maji Moto a well known hot spring and enjoy the magnificent Great Rift Valley escarpment which drops over 1600 feet down to the flamingo-rimmed lakeshore.
The wildlife is as diverse as the habitat with common sightings of elephant, hippo, giraffe, buffalo, lion and lots of baboon as well as the rare blue monkey.
