Mahale Mountains National Park, located in a remote area of Western Tanzania, is a feast for a solitude’s eyes and soul. Mahale is an amazingly beautiful mixture of mountains and forest cascading down to an unbelievably crystal clear blue lake. It is home to approximately 800 of Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzee. You can also see troops of colobus, red-tailed and blue monkeys as well as a myriad of colorful forest birds. Whether tracking the primates, making a pilgrimage to the ancient mountain spirits of the Tongwe people or taking a dip in the world’s longest and least-polluted freshwater lake you will be refreshed in both body and spirit.
